Ready Mix Concrete

Features and Benefits

Concrete is the most widely used construction material in the world. Today practically all concrete is delivered readymixed to site. It can be used in any project including housing, roads, bridges and all kinds of civil engineering works. Ready mix concrete can be delivered to your building site ready for placing or pumping into its final position.
  1. Concrete is one of the most environmentally friendly and cost effective construction materials.
  2. It takes less energy to produce a tonne of concrete than many other building materials.
  3. Concrete has been the proven mainstay of modern construction around the world for decades.
  4. Build with concrete and you're building with confidence.
  5. Ready mix concrete is supplied in a wide range of characteristic compressive strengths.
  6. The characteristic compressive cube strengths range from 10N/mm2 to 60N/mm2
  7. Ready mix concrete is available in a range of workabilities to suit the various diferent methods of placement including pump mix.
  8. Ready mix concrete has a high degree of durability.
  9. Ready mix concrete is delivered to site at the time it is required.
  10. Ready mix concrete is a consistant product due to the fact that it is manufactured in totally automated computerised batching plants
  11. Concrete is a cost and time effective solution to design situtations.
  12. Concrete behaves particularily well in fires.
The right mix for the job

Always use a concrete mix suitable for its intended application. Tables I and II give details of mixes appropriate for the more usual types of work on the farm.

The following general rules apply to all concrete, whether site mixed or readymixed.
1. Concrete must be sufficiently workable to allow full compaction after placing. Air voids left in the concrete reduce its strength and durability.
2. As workability starts to decrease shortly after mixing, only the quantity of concrete that can be placed and compacted within one hour should be produced at any one time. This is particularly important in hot dry weather.
3. The addition of extra water to either increase workability unnecessarily or to restore workability to concrete left unused for extended periods weakens the cement ‘glue’ and reduces the overall performance of the concrete.
